How to Check a Tim Hortons Gift Card Balance
The correct method depends on whether the Tims Gift Card is still separate or has already been transferred into the Tim Hortons app.
Check at a participating restaurant
- Bring the physical Tims Gift Card to the front counter.
- Ask a team member to check the remaining balance.
- Keep the card and activation receipt until the balance is confirmed.

Transfer the balance into the app
- Open the Tim Hortons app and select Scan.
- Open Payment methods in the top-right corner.
- Select Load Tims Gift Card.
- Choose Have another gift card? and follow the onscreen steps.

Where to Find the Tims Gift Card Number and PIN
Confirmed Tims Gift Cards use a 16-digit numeric card number and a separate 8-digit numeric PIN.
- On a physical card, find the 16-digit number on the back.
- Scratch the protected panel to reveal the 8-digit PIN.
- For a digital Tims Gift Card, open the original delivery email and locate the card number and PIN.
- Do not enter a receipt number, Tims Rewards number, order number, barcode-only value, or account-verification code.
Do not expose the PIN unnecessarily
The PIN is used to register the card, check the balance, and transfer the balance. Treat the full card number and PIN like cash and enter them only through Tim Hortons or another service you intentionally chose.

Try these Tim Hortons-specific checks before assuming the card has no remaining value.
The card number or PIN is rejected
Re-enter the 16-digit card number and 8-digit PIN without extra spaces. Make sure the scratch-off coating has been removed completely and all digits are visible.
The app will not accept the transfer
Confirm you are using the current Tim Hortons app and the correct Tims Rewards account. Follow the Scan → Payment methods → Load Tims Gift Card path again.
The balance is different than expected
Review recent purchases. Tim Hortons can provide card-history support when you submit the 16-digit Tims Gift Card number through Guest Care.
The physical card is lost or stolen
Call 1-866-TIMCARD immediately if the card was registered. Tim Hortons says an unregistered card's remaining balance cannot be replaced.
