The correct method depends on whether the gift card is still unredeemed or has already been added to an Apple Account balance.
CARD DETAILS
Current Apple Gift Cards use a 16-character alphanumeric redemption code. Apple may call this code the card’s PIN, but it is not a separate four-digit PIN.
Once the gift card is redeemed, its value becomes part of the Apple Account balance and the original code cannot be used again. Check the account balance instead of repeatedly entering the card code.
COMMON PROBLEMS
Try these Apple-specific checks before assuming the card has no remaining value.
Sign in to the Apple Account that may have received the card and check its balance and purchase history. A redeemed code cannot be applied a second time.
Enter the code exactly as shown, check similar-looking letters and numbers, and make sure you are using the redemption code rather than an order or receipt number.
Confirm you are signed in to the correct Apple Account. Sign out and back in, then check the App Store, Apple Music, or Apple TV account screen again.
Apple Gift Cards are country- or region-specific. A card purchased in Canada must be used with a Canadian Apple Account and Canadian Apple services.

Open Apple’s official gift-card balance support page, follow the balance link, sign in if prompted, and enter the card’s 16-character redemption code or PIN.
After redemption, the value becomes part of your Apple Account balance. On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and tap your account photo. On Mac, check below your name in the App Store sidebar. On Windows, check Apple Music or Apple TV.
Physical cards show a 16-character code on the back or card insert, sometimes beneath a peel-off or scratch-off area. Digital cards provide the code or a Redeem Now button in the delivery email.
No. The current Apple Gift Card replaced older Apple Store Gift Cards, but remaining value on older cards can still be valid. Legacy cards can have different use restrictions, so follow the instructions printed on the card.
