Prepare the Shell card
- Find the card number and PIN on the physical card or eGift details
- Keep the activation receipt if the card was recently purchased
- Confirm that the card is a Canadian Shell gift card rather than a fleet or rewards card
CANADA GIFT CARD BALANCE GUIDE
Shell provides three official ways to confirm a Canadian gift card balance: use its online checker, call the number printed on the card or review the balance shown on a recent Shell receipt
Use only Shell’s official balance service or the telephone number printed on the card. Shell gift cards are used with a sales associate in store and are not currently accepted as payment at the pump
Enter the balance confirmed through Shell’s online checker, telephone line or a recent receipt to preview a possible CAD payout range for a legitimate Canadian card
ONLINE, PHONE OR RECEIPT BALANCE CHECK
Shell Canada links directly to an online balance inquiry and also supports telephone balance checks. A completed Shell purchase receipt normally shows the remaining balance after the transaction
KNOWN 19 + 4 CANADIAN FORMAT
The known current Canadian Shell format uses a 19-digit numeric gift card number and a separate 4-digit numeric PIN. Enter the credentials exactly as printed and do not confuse the gift card with a Shell fleet, loyalty or fuel-savings card
Shell says the card can be used with a sales associate for fuel, car washes and eligible convenience-store items. It cannot currently be used as payment at the pump or through Shell EasyPay
COMMON PROBLEMS
Common Shell balance issues usually involve activation, entering the wrong card credential, confusing a gift card with another Shell product or trying to use the card through an unsupported payment channel
Re-enter the 19-digit number and 4-digit PIN without spaces and confirm that you are using a Canadian Shell gift card
Take the card and original activation receipt back to the Shell station where it was purchased
Pay with a Shell sales associate inside the location because gift cards are not currently accepted directly at the pump
Contact Shell promptly, but the published terms advise treating the card like cash and replacement may not be available
